HOW CAN MEN SUPPORT FEMALE FOUNDERS IN EDTECH
INTRODUCING: OUR NEWEST PARTNER IN INNOVATION
Dear Reimaginers,
This week, our focus shifts back to the new: new technologies (the Internet of Things), new partners in innovation, and new speakers announced for November’s event.
The newsletter kicks off with the announcement that we’ve chosen to partner with Setapp, a technology company whose talented team of software developers are providing solutions across multiple platforms: web, mobile, virtual reality. They’re also passionate about educational innovation, and publish articles on the topic via their in-house publication, The EdTech World.
The EdTech World will be sharing content via our newsletter over the coming months, and the first article explores why teachers might be resistant to incorporating educational technology into their classrooms. The observations made are designed to be valuable to readers from ed tech startups, and underlying them all is one essential principle for those at the intersection of education and technology: that the preferences, knowledge, capabilities, and concerns of teachers cannot be ignored by those who wish to create ed tech solutions.
Moving on, we offer a brief introduction to a new technological framework that has hitherto been overlooked in this publication: the Internet of Things. Guest writer Christian Golden, PhD, outlines the potential benefits and challenges of bringing the IoT into our classrooms, schools, and universities; and, though the overview is brief, we hope it will stimulate further discussion and examination of the implications of the IoT for educational institutions.
Finally, we’re delighted to be able to announce that four wonderful, expert speakers will be driving our agenda in San Francisco this year. Representing the University of Cambridge, Harvard University’s Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning, Google, and (formerly) the UCL Institute of Education respectively, we’re extremely excited about the insights they’re going to offer this year’s delegates. You can meet them here…
We will be confirming more speakers and topics over the coming month, but, to secure your place alongside some of the world’s foremost experts, representing some of the world’s leading research universities, most innovative startups, and most recognisable technology companies, secure your Early Bird place today!
Our final note is respecting this year’s Awards, where we offer a final reminder that the deadline for submission is not tomorrow (or today, depending on from where in the world you read this), but the 31st August 2018.
Never stop innovating!
Regards,
Jack Moran
