Dear Reimaginers,

The submissions window for the 2018 Reimagine Education Awards has now closed, and the competition grows ever-fiercer: this year, over 1150 applications were opened: 10% more than last year. All submissions are now in the hands of over 100 judges with expertise in K12 education, higher education, education technology, or new learning theory. We wish all applicants the best of fortune with the competition, and encourage them to keep an eye on their inbox on October 5th, when shortlisted applicants will be notified of their application outcome.

As ever, the winners of each category will be announced at this year’s Reimagine Education Conference, but there’s so much more to this year’s event than education’s “Oscars” night! Representatives from Google, Amazon, Cambridge, Harvard had already confirmed their place, but Microsoft will now be joining them. We’re delighted to confirm that Anthony Salcito, Vice-President for Worldwide Education, will be speaking alongside representatives from pioneering MOOC provider edX and Boston University about intersectoral collaboration. Intersectoral collaboration is also one of the focuses of this week’s EdTech World feature, in which editor Ashmeet Singh shines the spotlight on the Nordic EdTech ecosystem, enumerating those key players that are allowing Nordic nations to drive more effective edtech.
