REIMAGINE NEWSLETTER: ISSUE 32
THE EDTECH PODCAST #146 – ONLY CONNECT
Dear Reimaginers,
Hello, and welcome to this edition of the Reimagine Education Newsletter, where you’ll discover all that’s been happening in the first third of 2019. Your Reimagine Education Steering Committee has again been striving to reimagine Reimagine, taking into account all of your feedback from last year’s event – and are now able to offer some updates on a 2019 initiative that is speedily taking shape.
- The 2019 Reimagine Education Awards are well underway, and we are pleased to see that interest in the competition continues to rise. We have received approximately six times as many applications as we had at the same point in 2018, and we anticipate this being the most competitive edition yet – again! However, we are keen to continue surfacing outstanding approaches to teaching and learning – so don’t hesitate to apply today!
- We’re still seeking experts on edtech, teaching, learning, and employability to join our judging panel. If you’re keen to join the group of specialist educators helping to identify those projects that deserve to be recognised for their impact, uniqueness, and efficacy, submit your candidacy today!
- After positive feedback from last year’s participants, we can confirm that the Reimagine Connect 1-2-1 sessions will be recurring this year. These sessions will take two forms: carefully-tailored meetings between university CIOs and edtech companies; and similarly-tailored meetings between edtech investors and edtech startups. If you are an edtech startup representative, university CIO, or edtech investor, and you’d like to arrange a series of mutually-beneficial one-to-one meetings with leading Reimaginers, please email [email protected] for more information;
- We – also in response to positive feedback – will be offering a series of interactive workshops and professional development sessions at Reimagine 2019. If you’d like to run a workshop, or propose that we construct one on a specific topic ourselves, reach out to us at [email protected] and we will gladly collaborate with you accordingly;
- Don’t forget – for the first time, Reimagine is moving to London! We will be able to release further information about the event very soon, so stay tuned for more details. The event will be at the start of December, and we are already anticipating another vibrant, change-making meeting of education’s best minds. If you’d like to speak at Reimagine 2019, we are still accepting abstracts and speaker proposals: submit yours here
We also have some additional contributions and news from our Reimaginers network this issue they include:
- Howard B. Esbin, co-creator of the Prelude Suite, an experiential learning platform that enables virtual project teams to practice distributed leadership and strengthen soft skills in a compact creative process. In the first of a two-part series, he reflects on the roots and relevance of the Master of Arts qualification.
- Sophie Bailey, founder and presenter of the EdTech Podcast, and proud partner of the Reimagine Education Awards and Conference. In her latest instalment, she examines Education 4.0. The issue, co-curated with Sophie’s friends at Jisc, looks at where, when and how learning will happen in an age increasingly centered around, and mediated through, the online world;
- The latest addition to the Reimagine family: we’re delighted to announce that the EdTech Review will be partnering with Reimagine Education this year. To learn more about our newest media partner, and to explore the insights offered by their editorial team, comprised of passionate educators, click here.
Anyone who wishes to submit an article on their work, research, product, or paper for our newsletter is, as ever, welcome to contact [email protected] with an 100-word summary of their proposed topic. Until then – keep innovating!
