Reimagine Education: an initiative to rethink the way we conduct teaching, learning, and employability preparation. From inspiring undergraduate research projects to the most effective, intuitive educational apps possible: the 1200 or so projects we’ve received since the inception of Reimagine Education have covered a lot.

At the end of every learning process, though, there will always be one question that requires answering: what do you know? In attempting to reconfigure educational processes, it is essential that assessment methods keep pace with progressing pedagogies.

This edition’s first feature examines how DigiExam – last year’s Learning Assessment category winner – have sought to do just that. Their cutting-edge digital assessment platform, and the implications of their work, are assessed and evaluated.

The focus then switches to an area of practical skills acquisition that the world’s educational institutions would be equally unwise to neglect: financial literacy. Ensuring that the world’s students have the capabilities necessary to be competent citizens is essential, yet there is evidence that global educational systems are failing to prepare them to be so.

Recent data from the FINRA Foundation suggests that as many as two-thirds of Americans would find themselves unable to pass a basic financial literacy test, with that percentage falling consistently. TES research indicates that this trend holds for the United Kingdom, too.

Rectifying this troublesome trend is the business of Arinola Araba, founder and Creative Director of bMoneywize. This UK-based entrepreneur, whose work was shortlisted for the Presence Learning Award in 2016, is using gamification to ensure that a growing proportion of young people are conversant with currency and its management.
