THE TRIVIALIZATION OF SCIENCE EDUCATION
ISSUE 11: EDITORIAL OVERVIEW
Reimagine Education is devoted to encouraging effective education innovation, and believe that their awards serve as a platform to help individuals, companies, and universities share pedagogy that deserves to go global. In organizing our awards, however, we are aware that we operate in a thriving ecosystem, where entrepreneurs can find multiple opportunities for international recognition. One such opportunity is co-organized by our partners at the Penn Graduate School of Education, who are encouraging applicants to apply for their own competition, aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs.
Since 2010, the EBPC has earned a name for itself by attracting innovative ideas from around the world and spotting winning education innovations early on. Previous finalists have gone on to grow their ventures, attract investors, and have a positive impact on education.
The competition is distinguished by the size of its prize pool, the crowd-sourced judging process (which includes teachers, investors, entrepreneurs, and researchers), and both the breadth and depth of the ecosystem we offer aspiring entrepreneurs. What sets the EBPC apart in an increasingly crowded field of business plan competitions is not only the close contact entrepreneurs have with other players in our education ecosystem, but also our unshakeable commitment to moving research into practice, a tenet first espoused by Penn’s founder, Benjamin Franklin.
The foundation of the EBPC is our belief that education is different: in order to be truly effective, ventures in this space must rest upon established research in the field. Submissions must be received by Tuesday, September 12th, 2017. In addition, the Reimagine Education Awards & Competition has extended its submission deadline to September 10th. Given the outstanding opportunity both events present to education entrepreneurs, we encourage all eligible applicants to apply to both the EBPC Idea Path and Reimagine Education competitions.

The 2017 EBPC Idea Path Finals will be held in conjunction with the upcoming Reimagine Education Awards & Conference in Philadelphia from December 4-5. We hope to see you all there!
