SPONSORS ANNOUNCED: CULTIVATING CURIOSITY AWARD
The international, cross-sectory support for our initiative continues to grow, with an increasing number of insitutions and organisations recognizing the value of our global forum.
To this end: we’re delighted and proud to announce that this year’s Cultivating Curiosity Award will be jointly-sponsored by nonprofit think-tank The Center for Curiosity and free smart class platform, Acadly!
The Center for Curiosity seeks to understand how curiosity might be defined and measured, so that it can be harnessed in order to empower both teachers and learners: it is adopting a scientific, empirical approach to the concept of curiosity.
Acadly is a Classroom Response System and Attendance Automation platform that helps educators boost engagement inside the classroom and reduce the time spent on administrative chores. They have chosen to co-sponsor Cultivating Curiosity Award to help popularize curiosity in the academic sphere, and to encourage educators to better-explore the role that this hitherto-nebulous concept plays in driving improved learning outcomes.

The funding will boost the company’s continued growth into new markets, as they seek to ‘change the way students access content in both developed and developing countries’.

GENOSIS: A NEW FRAMEWORK TO SUPPORT THE DELIVERY OF NATIONAL CURRICULA
Learn more about the first year of implementation of the Malaysian ‘Genosis’ programme.
The Genosis Framework is designed to embed student inquiry, global awareness and future skills in the delivery of any national curriculum. Funded by the National Innovation Agency of Malaysia and the Genovasi Foundation, the ambition is to provide an accreditation framework for ASEAN schools that could serve as an alternative to existing and more costly programmes.
Each issue, we’ll be introducing you to different members of our judging panel: what challenges do they believe are preoccupying their education sector? What outstandingly innovative, effective solutions have they seen, of which our readership might wish to take note? And what characterizes education in their sphere?
This second feature sees us catch up with three more of our Shortlist-Stage Judging Panel: Chantell Wyten, who is Senior Curriculum Manager at the International Baccalaureate Association; Nigel Ngiam, who has worked as both lecturer and Business Development Manager at educational consultancy RITE Education; and Renee Aitken, Director of Assessment and Accreditation at Colorado State University.
