REIMAGINING SCIENCE EDUCATION: PHET INTERACTIVE SIMULATIONS
Dear all,
To say that education is changing is both a truism and a platitude. Educational theories, practices, and policies have always operated in a state of flux, and have always been subject to critique and development.
However, at Reimagine Education, we believe that the current form and pace of change is unprecedented. Technology and globalisation have forced educators, policy-makers, and students to rethink, and reimagine, basic assumptions about the scope and form of education. Consequently, we perceive our job to be twofold. First, it is to identify and reward those who are best adapting to, and directing, the nature of educational change. This is the purpose of the annual Reimagine Education Awards, a global competition attracting innovations from across the globe.
Second, it is to provide a platform whereby academics, educational entrepreneurs, thought-leaders, and policy-makers can unite to ensure that the world’s tertiary education system is preparing its students for the economy, society, and challenges of the future. This is the purpose of the Wharton-QS Stars Reimagine Education Conference, to be held on the 5th and 6th December in Philadelphia.
During our three years of attempting to reimagine education, we’ve been fortunate enough to receive truly transformational initiatives from inspired thinkers around the world. We’ve heard some of the most insightful educators and social thinkers outline their visions for the future of education – Apple, Google, Jeremy Rifkin, and Harvard among them. Our newsletter, therefore, is designed to introduce you to the best expressions of those visions, while also providing updates on the way in which Reimaginers past and present are changing the world of education.
This inaugural edition will introduce you to three Reimagine success stories. For those of you fortunate enough to be participating in this year’s Reimagine experience, you will know that this week has seen the announcement of the 2016 Reimagine Education shortlist. Read on to find out what’s next for you in your bid to become the winner of the 2016 Reimagine Education competition.
We hope this newsletter offers novel perspectives and insights into the transformation of the educational landscape, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming you to Reimagine Education.
Regards,
Jack Moran
